Framework modernization & features
Level10 helps healthcare facilities collect patient-experience feedback. Working with BlueSky Creative, we inherited a modernization challenge: a Laravel 7 application that needed to catch up while continuing to serve the product’s roadmap.
We filled gaps in test coverage and advanced the framework one major version at a time, moving PHP from 7.4 to 8.4 along the way. Survey, outreach, and reporting work continued alongside the upgrade. The existing application became the foundation for the next stage of the product.
SI (super intelligence) supported the upgrade and test-development work, with Roy directing the sequence and reviewing the changes. Tests around existing workflows gave each framework step a concrete check. This is our SI-powered, developer-led approach applied to a live product.
What we delivered.
Laravel 7 → 12 one major version at a time, tests before each bump — no rewrite
PHP 7.4 → 8.4 on the same path
Continued development of survey generation, outreach, the patient portal, and staff reporting
Facility and patient sync jobs hardened instead of replaced
Vite for assets; the live product kept taking features while the framework caught up
Facing a similar challenge?
Your application is several Laravel versions behind and still in active use.
Features still have to ship while the framework catches up.
You need a staged upgrade plan with tests to check existing behavior.
